What is Yoga Thearpy?
Although Yoga has been around for thousands of years, Yoga Therapy is a relatively ‘new’ field, with now only 17 accredited schools offering this specific education world wide. The intent is what makes this path different; it is aimed at helping people heal and recover from injury or illness. The structure of yoga still applies; in that we are all truly whole and well at our center, and this path offers gentle guidance to help us remember or get back in touch with this.
Yoga Therapy can be offered in a group setting, with particular focus, as in Back Care or Hips and Shoulders, or Sessions can be offered one on one. They are perfect for those who may have found a ‘regular’ yoga class beyond their reach or not accessible for some reason. It could be that the pace or poses were too challenging, or just not quite a match. A good Yoga Therapist will have the tools to apply the Yoga to each individual as best as they are able. Many sessions will include an extensive intake form ahead of time (done confidentially with the therapist), so that the classes/sessions will have optimum and personalized benefit.
